As with the release of a mobile guide for Rock Werchter there is more interesting features incorporated. Finally a beta working version on multi mobile platform previously only reach out to flash lite enabled phones from Nokia, Sony Ericson, … now they have ported their app to the iPhone.

For the first time (unless we missed something) flash lite content is ported to the iphone. Of course with all of the iphone UI advantages implemented! “How exactly did they managed this!” I hear you guys shout out loud. A while ago I was contacted by Emanuele Cipolloni from barefootsoft.com telling me about an awesome project they were working on: b.Tween. This is a framework using barefootsoft’s EyeGT technology to compile mobile content and deliver it across other devices. They were finishing the framework and wanted to test it out on Flash Lite content which I’d gladly delivered as you probably could imagine!

You can find more information about EyeGT at www.barefootsoft.com. Even though the b.Tween framework is still in a beta version and it is not 100% perfectly optimized, the result is stunning! Check out the youtube video:

Flashlite Missing the iPhone Ride

Adobe Flash, the popular platform for web applications and media, may finally be coming to the iPhone. “May” is the operative word here — it sounds like development is still in the early stages, and Apple might not even be interested.

While Flash-related speculation hasn’t even approached the level of constant rumors and counter-rumors about the release of the iPhone 3G, there’s still been plenty of grumbling. After all, the lack of Flash support is disappointing on a device that’s supposed to offer the most advanced mobile browsing experience around.

Adobe chief executive Shantanu Narayen set off a wave of discussion during an earnings conference call in March, when he said the company was working on version of Flash for the iPhone, although Adobe later clarified that all the discussions were still preliminary. Well, it’s three months later and time for another earnings call. Naturally, Narayen took the opportunity to get people talking again. He said Flash for the iPhone is now “working on the emulation.” That means Adobe has Flash running on an iPhone emulator on a computer in the company’s labs. As for an actual iPhone … they’re working on it. This isn’t exactly an earth-shattering announcement, but hey, at least it’s progress.

Apple iPhone 3G still lacking features

iphone_std1.jpgFundamentally, this new iPhone feels very much like the old iPhone. It’s apparently lighter than the old one by a minuscule amount, but in my hand it didn’t feel any different from the current iPhone. The biggest cosmetic changes are on the back panel, which is now shiny plastic instead of metal. The back panel is curvier than the one on the current iPhone, and the recessed headphone jack has been replaced with one which lies flush with the iPhone’s body, meaning the days of iPhone headphone adapters are gone forever. (Unless you want to use a microphone with a clicker, in which case you’ll still need one!)

The iPhone 3G’s edge buttons are now silver metal, rather than the black plastic on the current model. The buttons had a sharper edge than I’m used to, though I only pushed them a couple of times.

Apple won’t be providing detailed map data for the iPhone, instead relying on data streamed over digital networks from Google’s servers. Into this breach will most likely step third-party software developers: in fact, GPS-maker TomTom says it’s already got iPhone GPS software ready to go, and I’d expect a lot more competition in this area too, providing features like audio feedback and detailed maps that can be pre-loaded on the iPhone, so if your data connection vanishes, you can still find your way.
